That Electric Road Again
That President Sears and Secretary Matchette have not yet given up their project for an electric railroad from Goshen, Ind., to Danville, HL, is evidenced by a copy of a prospectus, just issued over their names. The prospectus sets forth the supposed advantages of such a road, at considerable length. The closing paragraph of the prospectus shows that Sears and Matehette have evidently dropped engineer Gilmore’s favorite Monticello route, for tbe more promising and rational one through this county. “In passing from Goshen, Indiana, to Danville, Ill.,” says the prospectus; “the link that is now proposed to be constructed, a distance of 135 miles, touches the richest portion of tbe states and reaches points not now favored with railroad facilities, and it will be a most popular road with the people. In this distance it will touch many most important cities, towns, and villages, among others most likely will be the flourishing towns of WaukaYusa, Nappanee, Bremen, Bourbon, Plymouth, Argos, Maxenkuckee Lake, Monterey, Winimac, Rensselaer, Fowler, Indiana, and many other important cities, to Danville, Illinois, crossing in this distance near a score of important railroad trunk lines, that will givens a fine business in passenger business that would furnish large and regular dividends for the com. pany.”
