Chizum is Out and Mills is In.
Rensselaer Now Has Both Judge and Prosecutor. Albert E. Chizum, of Morocco, on Thursday forwarded to Governor Mount Jjis resignation as prosecuting attorney for this, the 30th judicial circuit, which the governor accepted, and yesterday he appointed Charles E. Mills, of Rensselaer to serve out Chizum’s unexpired term. Mr. Chizum stated as his reason for resigning that his home and business and professional interests were at Morocco, which is remote from and difficult of access to both county seats in the circuit and it therefore did not pay him to continue to hold the office. The separation of Benton, though not stated as a reason, is also thought to have had a large share in causing Mr. Chizum’s resignation, as it very largely reduced the business and of course the emoluments of the office. The appointment of Mr. Mills is eminently satisfactory in this portion of the circuit and we have no doubt will prove to be throughout the circuit generally.
