BLACKFORD.
Anderson Jenkins has been quite sick with the grip. George Skull who has been working for Elias Arnold was called to his home near Union City, Ohio, last week, on account of the death of his" brother. A birthday surprise party was given for Mrs. James Longstreth, Easter Sunday. Emmet Pullins shot a wolf, one day last week, on the river marsh. But its scalp wont pass for $lO before the county office. The Assesors started out assessing the property and land, the first of April. Charley Campbell is reported quite sick. Ed. Jenkins spent Easter Sunday at Monon returning Tuesday. Mrs. Ellen Culp, of Lee, is visiting her brother, Thomas Price, who is quite sick. George Master is working for John Renicker. Edward Barkley has taken a 14 year old boy from the orphan’s home to raise. Emmet Pullins spent Easter Sunday at Mr. Saidle’s. Arthur Ropp is working for Elias John Lesh and family of Parr visited the family of Jacob Lesh in this vicinity. I wonder if the Blackford eorres-
to that wedding feast he spoke of. 1 guess he got April fooled. Leborn Stanley visited his sister, Mrs. Jesse Jenkins the first of the week. The talk of a stone crushing plant is beginning to assume definite shape, and it is now much more than probable that a company will be organized to put one in, contingent perhaps on being met in the proper spirit of encouragement by the members of our city government and citizens generally. It is understood that ■oqr city councilmen are all very favorable to the location of a plant here, as of course they necessarily would be, having the good of the town at heart, and i that they will, if a definite proI position to locate a plant here, 1 owned and operated by our own I citizens, to give it every reason- ! able encouragement, such for instance. as contracting for a large quantity of crushed rock, for i street repairing. That a proposii tion to establish such a plant here will be made by responsible parties at the council meeting next Monday night, is now con- ' sidered very probable.
Several have asked us as to the workings of the Pharmacy bill. The board is comprised of of 5 pharmacists appointed by the Governor. All pharmacists must register every two years. Any person over 18 years of age, the proprietor of a drug store, is entitled to register without an examination. Any person who has been engaged coni tinually as a clerk for four years, is entitled to register as a clerk without examination. Any person who has served four years in a srore and can pass examination is entitled to register as clerk, and any person who has served two years as clerk is entitled to register as assisant clerk. Diplomas and time spent in pharmacentical ■ schools do not add anything to the applicant’s standing before the ex- ’ amining board except the time counts the same as having been engaged as clerk in a drug store. General merchants can sell all kinds of proprietary goods together with the usual domestic remedies without being liscensed. The ■law does not require registering i before July Ist.
