A Township Law Trouble.
The new township reform law does not go into effect until the •laws are published in book form and circulated. A provision in the law requires that the first term of circuit court in the county after the law is in effect, the judge shall appoint the various township advisory boards, to serve until the election of 1899. Now, it is expected that the laws will not be printed and proclaimed in effect much before the Ist of J une, which is about the usual time. Should that be the case this year, then in this county there will be no regular term of court after laws are in effect, until the 2nd Monday in September, and that will be too late for advisory boards to do any good the coming year, as their annual meeting is the Ist Monday in September. There are a good many counties in this same fix, regarding the township advisory boards, and it is now thought that by a special rush in the secretary of state’s office the laws can be got out in time for judges to appoint the advisory boards at their April and May terms of court.
