Monon’s Anti-Saloon Contest.

Over at Monon the anti-saloon people had better success with their Nicholson remonstrance than did those in Monticello. Inhere were two applicants at Monon, Philip Dobbins and Edwin CochelL After a most active campaign, during which both sides thoroughly canvassed the entire township, the antis got a majority of 59 against Dobbins and 54 against Cochell. When the case came before the commissioners, the saloon men made a fight on the remonstrance, claiming that many of the names on it were not legally entitled to be counted. A big trial resulted in Dobbin’s case; which was decided Friday, in favor of the remonstrators. Dobbins has taken an appeal to the circuit court. The hearing of Cochell’s case is set for next Monday.
