C. A. Hopkins is on the sick list. Miss Ola Lang is staying at Jack Hoyes’ at present. Clinton Thornton was in Surrey last Tuesday announcing to his friends that a “new girl” had arrived at his honse. Mr. Wilcox is throwing out special inducements to his customers again by° a cut in prices. It will pay all to investigate prices before buying elsewhere. He says the “cash plan” is a success. A Mr. Cady from 111., is now occupying the Henry Thornton place near here. Dode Lang will handle lumber and tile at this place this season. All who need any thing in this line will be treated right by giving him a call. Caleb Hopkins purchase a good team of horses last week. Jessie Lang went to Indianapolis last Wednesday to resume her work as a milliner there. She will stay until next May. Robert Hopkins closed a successful term of school here last Wednesday. A large number of patrons and friends were present. An excellent dinner was served at noon and a literary programme was carried out iu the afternoon. He desires to thank pupils and patrons for their many kindnesses bestowed during
the term. Mrs. Ella Hopkins and Mrs. Cora Hopkins were present from Rensselaer and they had the pleasure of going home at the desired time. Mr. Editor:—A very perplexing question was asked by a customer at this place the other day.. It was — “A dog is said to speak with his tail.
