Death of Leander Bring ham.

Leander Bringham, a resident of Jasper county many years ago and'well known to all our oldest settlers, died Monday, Feb. 20th, at his home at Brookston. His age was 72 years, 5 months, 11 days. He was born on the present site of Purdue University, at Lafayette and was said to have been oldest the Indianian born west of the Wabash. Mr. Bringham moved to Jasper county in the fall of 1851, and owned and occupied what is now known as the Larsh farm, in Jordan Tp, In 1854 he moved .to what was then called Bradford, but is now Monon. In 1867 he became a resident of Brookston and lived there until his death, excepting about five years spent in Chicago. He owned some Jasper county landed the time of his death, including 40 acres near Groom’s bridge, northeast of town. A 160 acre tract in Gillam Tp., he deeded to his daughters some time ago.
