Late Legislature News.
The senate passed the bill providing for the enlistment, equipping and maintaining of a new national guard, and as the bill was drawn under the direction of the governor, there is no doubt that it will pass the house. It appropriates SIOO,OOO for each of two years and provides for the organization of four regiments of ies each. The state is divided into regimental districts, and the companies will be so recruited as to have every section represented. Of a kindred nature was a resolution adopted by the senate asking that the general government establish a military post in this state, and relinquishing all jurisdiction over the land that the government may acquire and use for that purpose. Other bills passed by the senate were: Inhibiting the marriage of white persons with persone having more than one eighth of negro blood in their veins. Prohibiting fire insurance companies from lending any part of their funds to any officer of the company. Requiring railroad companies to employ at least two brakemen for each passenger train. Requiring prosecutingattprneys to appear in divorce cases which are likely to go by default. The friends of lower appropriations tried to make a stand yesterday against several of the bills appropriating money for purposes that it is believed might be dispensed with, but everything was carried over their protests. The bills appropriating SIOO,OOO for the completion of the soldiers’ monument and for erecting a newinsane asylum were pushed forward for passage. The house bill taking Benton county off from this judicial circuit passed the house by a vote of 38 to 30, and the senate by 46 to 0. It has an emergency clause and takes effect immediately. The bill does not change the time of holding court nor the length of the terms in this county. It became a law without the governor’s signature.
