Florida Gone Froze.
Capt. G. W. Payne, who has jdst moved from St. Andrew’s Bay, Florida, to De Funiak Springs, same state. Writing from the latter place, under date of Feb. 11th, he says: “We reached here on the 11th at 10 o’clock at night and the next a. m. went out and rented a three room cottage and went to housekeeping and on Sunday a. m., when ,we arose, to our great suprise found the . ground covered with snow. I had to stop and get my breath to see if I hadn’t taken wings during the night and flew back to Indiana. But not so, I found myself right here in De Funiak Springs in the “land of flowers,” where peaches and pears are in bloom and much garden stuff ready for table use. As for myself, I have no particular fault to seeing snow, as I can have all the cold water I want to drink. Now Mr. Editor how is this for the Sunny South. To try the strength of the cold, I took a tin cup ful| of water out of the house, at 4 o’clock this evening and it froze solid in 60 minutes, and is still getting colder. No more tonight.
CAPT. G. W. PAYNE.
