Busted In a Strange Land.
B. J. Gifford arrived in town a day or two ago after an all night’s experience that he is not anxious to have repeated. He was down at Indianapolis, presumably drilling into the thick heads of our Hoosier Solons a right Understanding of the merits of his Kankakee drainage bill, and was about to go to North Judson on the Pan Handle. He had gone into the car and secured a sleeper, and then left his grip, with most of his cash, in the car, while he went into the depot restaurant to eat a lunch. While there his train pulled out* and another on the Vandalia line, took its place. Not noticing the difference Mr. Gifford got on the train, and was carried to the Monon. He found money enough in his pockets to take him to Lafayette, and he made the rest of the way by virtue of a good “speil” to the conductor of the milk train, whom he paid after arriving here.
