Rensselaer Semi-Weekly Republican, Volume 20, Number 45, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 7 February 1899 — Tramp Printer Quoted High. [ARTICLE]
Tramp Printer Quoted High.
A card has been received from Wm. Reagan, the county sheriff at. Cassopolis, Mich., offering a rew«ud of ten dollars for the arrest of one John A. McWilliams, a tramp printer. He must be wanted pretty bad, as the amount offered is far in excess of the actual value of any member of the tramp printer species we ever heard of. He is about 24 years old, weighs 155 ibs., smooth face, ruddy complexion, black hair and drooping eyes. When he left Cassopolis he wore a pair of Potato Patch Pingree’s patent leather shoes, and a light overcoat, which had been split across the back and mended. The description also adds that he is quite a drinker and will be around saloons. A quite unnecessary remark, for all tramp printers are like that. He robbed a printing office at Cassopolis. What he robbed it of is not stated, but printing offices seldom have much of value laying around loose except their good reputations.
