ter Feb. 19 for a protracted run. This famous melodrama has been running all winter at the Academy of Music in New York to record-breaking attendance. It has been acknowledged to be tbe greatest production of a play ever attempted in America, even excelling the mneh-dis-enssed “Cyrano de Bergerac” of Mansfield in point of lavish scenic beanty and size and quality of cast. Over two hundred people are used during the course of the play and of these fifty are speaking roles, for which Mr. Litt has engaged the best people to be had in this country. Robert Hilliard, Elita Proctor Otis, Joseph Wheeiock, Frazer Coulter, " Frank Burbeck, Jeannette Lowrie, Charles Gotthold, Paton Gibbs are among the leading members of this fine company. The scenery embraces sixteen complete sets, which have been painted by the leading scenic artists of America. They represent a number of famous places in England, notably two scenes at Epsom Downs, where the famous Derby is run; Earl’s Court, the Hotel Cecil in London, Covent Garden by night and the National Sporting Club, where some of the most noted fistic battles in the history of the squared circle have taken place. A scene which never fails to interest is the training stable of the Earl of Woodstock, the hero of the play. This is the home of Lady Love, the inare whose winning of the Derby saves the carl from ruin and bankruptcy. It took six cars to move this great production from New York to Philadelphia last week, and it will come west on a special train of ten cars. The engagement is sure to mark a historic event in the annals of Chicago’s playhouses.
