A Round The World Trip.
The 4th U. 8. infantry left Fort Sheridan Sunday, for the Philippines. Two Jasper county boys, Arthur Lakin, of Rensselaer and Fred Granger, of DeMotte, are in this regiment. The regiment goes by way of New York, across the Alan tic, through the Mediterranean Sea, the Suez canal, the Red sea, and the Indian ocean. It is the first regiment which has been sent to Manila over this all the others having gone by way of San Francisco and the Pacific ocean. This Atlantic route is far the most interesting one of the two. The regiment will stop several times it is said, and see many strange countries and people. On its final return the plan is to come back by way of tbe Pacific and California, thus making a complete circumnavigation of the globe. The first time it was ever done by a regiment of soldiers. 7
