Rensselaer Semi-Weekly Republican, Volume 20, Number 38, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 13 January 1899 — The City Council. [ARTICLE]

The City Council.

A resolution adopted requiring the city electrician to make reports of meter readings and bills for sundries on the last day of each month. Another resolution is that the water duplicates are to be turned over to the city attorney for collection of unpaid bills. John C. Hodshire, Thomas Joyner and A. D. Bums presented certificates of medical examination and were accepted as members of the Fire Department. A 7 ft board fence was ordered erected around the lot in the rear of city hall. Some favorable discussion was had looking to the probable passage of a resolution to the effect that persons in the city’s employ must pay their grocery, meat and other store bills. We move to amend by inserting “printers’ bills” also. Quite a number of claims were considered and allowed.
