The Firemen’s Ball.

The grand masquerade ball given Friday night under the auspices of the Rensselaer Fire Department, was a howling success. At half past eight the orchestra began the grand march, forty masked couple participating, led by Dr. Dessler and Mrs. A. Lewis. The next on the program was a quadrille and then the fun began, lasting until three this morning. The costumes were all very comical or elegant in design and showed great taste and ingenuity in their make up. At twelve o’cleok the masks were removed and a supper served at Goff’s Restaurant. A. Lewis and wife captured the two beautiful gold stiok pins given as a prize for the best costumed couple in the house and Fred Parcels and Anna Malchow were awarded the same for being costumed the most comical personages of the oocasion. Music was furnished by Olson’s orchestra of Lafayette.
