Week of Prayer.
For several years the first week of Jan. has been observed as a week of prayer for general and specific objects that are vital to the social and religious life of the times. An outline of topic is agreed upon and announced. The various churches singly or united follow that outline. It begins with the first Sunday in January ana closes with the second. The Pastor's Union of Rensselaer have decided to observe it here this year by the union of all the churches represented therein. Rev, Sheppard. Fritts and Middleton were, appointed a committee to , distribute the work among the churches and pastors. Thev met ami adopted the following plan.
The congregations will meet in their various churches on the two Sabbaths embraced and their respective pastors will preach upon the subjects for those days viz: Jan. 1, ‘‘Chris.ian Unity,” St. John 17:23, Jan. 8, ‘‘The power of united effort,” Lev. 26:8. Isa. 4:6,7. Eccl. 4:12. On the intervening weekdaysand evenings the congregations will unite and hold services as follows: AFTERNOON SERVICES 2:30. Mon., Presbyterian ..
