An Eclipse of the Moon.
The year 1899 will Be a very poor one for eclipses of any kind, and even the next total eclipse of the Democratic party is not due until 1900. There is still one due for this present year 1898 however, and it will be the last chance people of this section will have to see an eclipse until December of next year. Lt is a toiui eclipse of the moon, and occurs on the night of next Tuesday, Dec. 27th. It will be very favorable for observation here, if the sky is clear. The eclipse will begin before the moon rises and reaches the beginning of the total phase when the moon is about 40 minutes above the horizon. The duration of the total phase is about an hour and a half. Totality will begin here at 2 minutes before 5 o’clock p. m., and end at 6:27 p. m., standard time. The mooq’s glim will be pretty nearly completely doused when it comes up.
