That Lurid Light, Southeast at Night.

Editors Healey of the Chalmers Ledger and French of the Brookston Reporter are now four miles apart, but the southeastern sky is already lurid with the fire and. smoke of their hostilities. When Healey gets the Brookston Gazette on its feet, the conflict will be hand to hand, so to speak, and may be expected to attain cataclysmic dimensions. But we Have no fears but that our townsman, Healey will hold his own and a good deal more in the struggle. Though young in years he is old in newspaper controversy, and few are they who will wisely try conclusions with him in the inky field. Even that past-master in the art of newspaper vituperation Del Crampton of the Delphi Citizen, got into a scrimmage with Healey a few months Rgo, and after a little preliminary sparring for an opening, Crampton tried to land with a few savage upper-cuts which he thought would do Healey up; but Healey parried and got in on the solar plexus and knocked Cramp into such a cramp that he has never raised even the faintest squawk to this day.
