Farmers' Institute.
The committee met last Saturday and much progress was reported and the indications are that the attendance will be very large and the institute the best ever held in the county.*. John F. Warren, David B. Nowels and Effie Cowden were selected to prepare a query box. Questions should be sent to them for answer by the instructors. The institute will be held in the M. E. church January 13 and 14, 1899. Subjects were assigned to the lecturers as follows: TO J. A. MCFARLIN. Friday morning, “Clover for profit.” Friday afternoon, “Farmers’ friends and enemies.” Friday evening, “Making a home on the farm.” , Saturday morning, “How to meet changed conditions.” Saturday afternoon, “Care and management of hogs.” TO JAMES RILEY. Friday morning, “How to buy and pay for a farm.” Friday afternoon, “Practicalcorn culture.” Friday evening, “How to hold children on the farm.” Saturday morning, “How to increase the soil’s fertility.” Saturday afternoon, “How to hold an agricultural fair.” It was also agreed that the election of officers and committees for the next year take place at 10: 40 a. m., of Friday and the place of holding same be at that time determined. There is still room for volunteer songs, speeches, recitations, questions and -discussions. We want to complete the program next Saturday evening at the office of Foltz, Spitler & Kurrie.
