A Confirmed Horse Thief.
Most of our readers will remember the case of John W. Brown, who something over a year ago was tracked through Rensselaer. He had been a prominent and prosperous man. Once a township trustee of Pulaski county, and afterwards in business in Peru. He finally got in evil ways and at last stole a horse and buggy and struck out in this direction. Sheriff Reed took a hand in running him down and located him at a brother’s place, over the line in Illinois. When officers went to arrest him he attempted suicide, by shooting, but didn’t hurt him-j self much. y B 4 He was then taken back and got a year on t' guilty. He was August.
