BLACKFORD. Roads fine and dusty. The blacksmith’s tools have arrived and the clatter of the anvil can now be heard from the rising to the setting of the sun. Jim Myers and family of DeMotte, visited their daughter Mrs. Charles Reed of Barkley Sunday. Miss Lora Bruce living south of Rensselaer, canvassed books of “War with Spain” in this vicinity last week. T. H. Hurley is busily engaged in dressing poultry for the holidays. Jim Hurley is the champion turkey picker of Jasper Co. He says he can pick 100 turkeys in a day. ■ John Lesh and family of Parr, visited on Nubbin Ridge Sunday. Rev. Sherill is still holding a series of protracted meetings at Parr. • Marion and Kelley Richardson are husking corn for W. W. Burns near Valma. Lyman Zea is pressing hay for John Brown near the Burk bridge. James Longstreth made a trip to Chicago the first of the week. Ed Cybal has returned to Nubbin Ridge after an absence of about 2 weeks.
