Town of Remington Sued.
Mrs. John Ott Wants $5,000 for Personal Damages. The town of Remington has received its Christmas present, two weeks ahead of Christmas, and much more than two weeks before dt was wanted. It is in the shape of a law suit against the town, where the plaintiff asks for $5,000 for personal injuries. Mrs. Luretta A. Ott, wife of John M. Ott, a prominept citizen! of Remington, is the plaintiff. The complaint states that on April 10th, 1898, while plaintiff and her husband were geing to church, walking along Ohio street, Mr. Oit stepped on a loose board, and the other end flyiag she tripped over it and was .thrown dowu “violently and with great force” sustaining great and severe injuries to her left knee. It is stated that the injured limb was left in plaster 11 d&ya, and that the plaintiff is now a permanent cripple, compelled to go on crutches, and always expects to be. That she still suffers greatly from the injuries. and is unable to perform any labor. Damages are asked in the sum of SSOOO.
It is said that the Remington town board at one time expressed a willingness to reimburse him the expenses of his wife’s injury, but they express their intention of fighting this suit to the last resort. Ferguson & Wilson, of Rensselaer, are the plaintiff’s attorneys.
