Rensselaer Semi-Weekly Republican, Volume 20, Number 29, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 13 December 1898 — Lawdie Martin Promoted. [ARTICLE]
Lawdie Martin Promoted.
The railroad column of the Cincinnati Enquirer, of Dec. 7th under the heading of “Robbie Martin Promoted” says: “Robert L. Martin has been appointed Contracting Agent of the Missouri, Kansas & Texas Road. Mr. Martin has been very attentive to business and has earned his promotion by good work for the company.” The Republican is reliably informed that our young ex-towns-man’s promotion carries with it a very decided increase of salary, as well as more honor and responsibility; and as the young man has just taken to himself a wife, there is but little question but what the increased salary will be useful. Mr. Martin is now well established in the good graces of his company, and this promotion is sure, in due time, to be followed by others, still more desirable. He is evidently on the sure road to a successful and happy life; and in his progress as in that of quite a number of _other young men who have gone out from Rensselaer, our younger boys may find examples well worthy of imitation. Strictly moral, strictly temperate, clean in word and deed, and doing the duties they have to do, faithfully and to the best of their ability, these are the qualities that bring the best success, every time.
