The Teachers’ Association.
The Jasper County Teachers Association closed a successful two days session, Friday afternoon. There were present, during the sessions, all but about 12 or 13 of the county’s present active force of 130 teachers. Among the notable features of the meeting was a paper by Prof. Sanders, of the Rensselaer schools, on the subject, “Higher Qualifications for Teachers.” “Our State University” by Jesse E. Wilson, of the Jasper Co. bar; “A Sketch of an Indiana Educator” by President Swain, of the state university; “Township Institutes, ffow to Improve Them,” by A. C. Beaman. The principal feature of Friday evening’s session was a lecture by President Swain, on the subject, “The Elements of a Successful Life.” * The music during the Association was under the direction of Miss Flora Wharton, supervisor of music in the Rensselaer schools, and was of a high order of excellence. The Association elected the following officers for the ensuing year: President, Mary E. Leatherman, Marion Tp. Vice Pres., R. Marion Tp. Secretary, Mrs. Mae kelson, of Keener Tp. The county superintendent is made treasurer, by the provisions of the constitution. \
