The County Treasurer's Term.

The term of office of the county treasurer in this county formerly began on the 12th of August, but the 'Legislature of 1897 changed the law and required the terms of all treasurers to begin Jan Ist. The law has been tested in the Supreme court and declared valid, and is therefore now in full force and effect. By its operation J. C. Gwin, the present treasurer, mid his first term extended from August 12th, 1897 to Jan. Ist. 1898. Therefore -his present term will not expire, and that of his successor elect will not begin, until Jan. Ist, 1900.
