Death of Capt. Troxell.
Capt. John G. Troxell died Wednesday night at his home in Delphi. Prior to the war he was a resident/ of Jasper county. He enlisted An Company C. 46 Regt. Ind. Vole, in November 1801, and was/t)rder* ly, Sergeant, Lieutenant and Captain, Ho was an ide&l soldier, always ready for duty/and never grumbled. He was /as brave as any man but never fool-hardy. He suffered severe attack of inflammatory/rheumatism while in service but,’stood in his place until the expiration of his term of service. j After hej'returned from the army he engagecjl in farming in which he was very successful. He owned a fine Mrm north of, and a nice home .Au Delphi. He served one term /as a County Commissioner and a very creditable record as sudji. He became paralyzed about ten years ago and has been unable to do any business since that time. For the last three or four years he.has been a great sufferer from rhleumatism and chronic diarrhoea contracted in the service. Oapt. Troxell was one of the mos(t honored members of the 46th Ind/, Vols. and his comrades will hear >of his death with sorrow. He was a brother of J. M. Troxell, of DeMotte, and an uncle of Mrs. Isaac Hemphill, Mrs. C. A. Dean, and Miss Lillie Troxell, of Rensselaer. -
