Rensselaer Semi-Weekly Republican, Volume 20, Number 20, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 11 November 1898 — Sunday School Column. [ARTICLE]
Sunday School Column.
Conducted by W. C. Smalley. » REMIXUTO.V, INDIANA. True Christians are the world’s happiest peopleAgain let us remind you who held no Rally Day to hold it just as soon as possible. The good it will do your school will more than repay the effort made besides the state needs the little offering you may make to help along with the work. Whose name will head the list next year as the one having made the largest. offering? The Christian and M. E. schools of Rensselaer now hold the tirst place. We need courtesy in our dealings with our fellow men as much as a piece of machinery needs oil. Otherwise in either case there will be friction that will cause trouble aud disturbance. Our County Convention held last week was a huge success ’in every particular. The rain on Friday night decreased the attendance on Saturday, but it was by no moans smnll any way. The address on Friday evening by Miss Markert was indeed a treat to every S. S. worker present. She is thoroughly alive to the Home Dept, interests of our state and we are very fortunate in having suoh a one for our Statfi Supt. She made a splendid talk to primary workers on Saturday morning. Bro. W. 11. Le vering delivered an excellent address on “TlieS. S. and the Church"’ in the morning and presented Normal Methods in the afternoon on Saturday both of which were intensely interesting. Normal methods as he presented it is almost a revelation to most of us, it is certainly one of the best things we can work in the Sunday Bchool. We ought to have a Normal class in every school in our Co. Illinois graduated over
over three hundred classes last year. Taking the convention as a whole it was the best every held in the county. The following is a list of new officers elected for the coming year. Pres. B. D.
