The Editor Whipped Him.

Oxford Tribune: County Clerk A. D. Sleeper and Thomas Clifton, ex-editor of the Fowler Republican, had a fight in the clerk's office at Fowler Saturdey. There are conflicting stories as to the affair, but from what we can learn the two gentleman were making a settlement. In the course of the conversation Clerk Sleeper applied a vile epithet against the members of the Benton County Republican Editorial Association, an epithet that is used only by the low’ and depraved. This was resented by Mr. Clifton and blows followed. Friends separated them with honors in favor of Mr. Clifi ton.
