Union B. Hunt’s Meeting.

Hon. U. B. Hunt had a splendid meeting at the opera house, Wednesday night. The attendance was good, indeed, and the attention and enthusiasm of the audience all that any one could desire. Mr. Hunt was somewhat handicapped by a sore throat as well as by a desire to cut his speech rather short on accountof the coldness of the room. But he put up a splendid speech, full of facts and arguments which no opponent of the party could ‘truthfully deny nor successfully refute, and which made every Republican present stronger than ever in his political faith, while the overflowing patriotism of the last half of his speech could not fail to make all his hearers proud to be Americans,, and ashamed of those recreant ones, who are now, for political purposes, trying to cover the name of Americans with reproach and dishonor, in the eyes of the jvorld, by their wicked slanders on the conduct of the war.
