Wallace Stiyers Dead.

Friday’s l ally. The sad news was received by telegraph this afternoon, of the death of Wallace Stivers, son of Mrs- R. A. Gibson, of this plaoe. He was a member of the Monticello company, of the 161st regiment, being one of the some seven or eight young men from Rensselaer who enlisted in that company. His age was about 19years. The cause of his death is understood to have been typhoid fever. He died at Jacksonville, Florida. The telegram to Mrs. Gibson, was from Capt. Guthrie, and stated that the remains would be started home tonight, in charge of a comrade. It is now r thought that they will arrive in time to hQld the funeral Sunday afternoon. This is the first death to occur among Rensselaer soldiers in the Spanish war."
