Rensselaer Semi-Weekly Republican, Volume 20, Number 12, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 14 October 1898 — The Coming Lecture Course. [ARTICLE]
The Coming Lecture Course.
In the interest of the course we would say that the matter of a lecture conrse is taking such form this year that it demands the support of every citizen of this city. The order of the lectures has been raised until it is as high as is obtainable. The price, for each ticket, has been reduced to 81.50, and while the course is only to consist of three assured lectures, yet the difference is far outweighed by the advantage in quality.
It is the intention of the club to add as n fourth number -to the course Robert Burdett if it is able to secure subscriptions for a number of tickets that will justify its entering into a contract for the lecture. The lecture course is now looked upon as a public institution. The club regards it as such. It makes no charges for its services in the matter, and will invest all money received in lectures. The public should join in this spirit, and then wo will have a course of which we may be proud. The guaranteed course is as follows- John Temple Graves, November 14, 1898; the Sherwood Grand Concert Company, December 7. 1898; Dr. N. D. Hillis, February, the date is not fixed. Single ndmissiqn tickets will be 75c. Subscribers will get seats reserved for the season, as usual. The season tickets will all be disposed of within the next week.
