Foot Bail Season Opened.
The practice game between the High School and Rensselaer City team on Wednesday was well played. The High School boys were lacking in weight but they put up a pluckily fight and gave the City team a good hard game. The boys give promise of making a good strong team. While but few of last year’s team are in position so far, enough new material is showing up that Rensselaer, this year as last, should have a winning team. The game Wednesday gave the new men some idea of what they were expected to do, and in the game Friday we can depend 011 them to do their part. Both sides fumbled somewhat ■Wednesday and were a little loose in forming interference for the man running with the ball. But they showed good team work, both on the offensive and defensive for a team which contained so many new and untried men. Brinley and Marshall were back in their old places and with a little help from the line will prove ground gainers. Ord Yeoman played the other half, and has the making of a good man in time. Rhoades filled the quarter back’s position very well, and passed the ball well, with but few fumbles. Wright and Hawkins were on the end. Hawkins is a new man, but with coaching will do all right. Cain and Clouse at tackle and guard were both new to their positions but are good material. The guards are Whiting and Big Ned Irwin the same wh» supported Lakey at center last year, and are too well known favorably to receive further mention. Lastly but not least by any manner of means is Charley Ham, who is at center. He is new to the game yet but is very good. The High School has a splendid team for their size and weight. While some of them are new to the game as ybt, they play a good article of ball, should easily whip the majority of the High School teams around this part of the state. It was a sad occurrence that Chas. Fidler of the High School team should be hurt as he was. At the first down he and one of the city boys had a collision, and his collar bone was broken. It was of course a painful injury but at last reports he was getting along very well. The game consisted of 15 minute halves, and the score stood, Rensselaer City team 23. High School 0. The game Friday is with the Chalmers - Brookston contingent and will be a good one. Let eveiy one turn out and aid the boys to victory.
