About the Railroads.

The Monon people are going to gravel thoir road bed from St. John to Fair Oaks yet this fall. Train No. 30, due here at 6:82 p. m., struck a cow, near Delphi, last evening. The engine struck her squarely and she was knocked into a shapeless mass, apparently every bone in her body was broken. A The Monon Ry. will make a one and one-tbird fare to Lowell, good going Oct. 5, and 6, returning Oct. 8., on account of the regimental reunion of the 9th Ind. Vet. Inf. Assn, to be held at Lowell Oct. 6 and 7. Last Sunday’s Chicago excursion was almost a record breaker, at this place. The number of tickets sold here was 233. In spite of the large number going, the cars were not so badly crowded but that everyone obtained seats. W. H. McDoel, vice-president of the Monon lines, said on Wednesday that 60 days from now the Monon main line from Chicago to Louisville would be the best track crossing Indiana; the same was true of the Indianapolis division, and it would be safe to run trains over either division 80 miles an hour.—lndianapolis Journal. Formal consolidation of the Indiana, Illinois & lowa Railroad Company, of Illinois, and the Indiana, Illinois & lowa Railroad Company, of lowa, was effected at a meeting of the stockholders held at Chicago Thursday.
