Society Event.
One of the chief society events of the season took place yesterday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sheriff Reed. In the afternoon Mrs. Reed entertained 30 of her lady friends at dominoes. Mrs. Chas. Robinson won the prize, which was a china finger bowl. Mrs. Geo. Murray, Mrs. E. P. Honan and Rex Warner assisted Mrs. Reed in receiving. In the evening both ladies and gentlemen were there, to the number of 56. Dr. A. L. Berkley won a beautiful picture as the gentleman’s prize in progressive euchre, and Mrs. Lally won the ladies’ prize. Mrs. Frank Sears, Mrs. Warner, Mrs. Honan and Mrs. F. B. Meyer helped receive in the evening. Bountiful and elegant refreshments, consisting of salad, wafers, scalloped oysters, bread and butter sandwiches, coffee, olives, salted almonds, ice cream and cake were served. The house was tastefully decorated in tube roses and ferns. The guests of honor were Mrs. P. Lally and Miss Bena Paxton of Michigan City, Mrs. Thatcher of Chicago, and Mrs. Howe of Los Angeles, Cal.
