Rensselaer Semi-Weekly Republican, Volume 20, Number 7, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 27 September 1898 — Will Manufacture Cycleskates. [ARTICLE]

Will Manufacture Cycleskates.

Messrs Delos Thompson, F. A. Ross and T. J. McCoy, of Rensselaer, and the latter’s brother-in-law, Wat Taylor, of Chicago, have formed a company called the Cycleskate Company. In view of the supposed approaching revival of the roller-skating craze, Mr. Ross who is very ingenious, went to work a few months ago and invented and perfected, what is called a cycleskate. He has taken out a patent upon the invention, and the company abovb named will at once proceed to manufacture the skate in large numbers. Mr. Taylor was previously engaged in making bicycle pedals, in a factory on Jefferson street Chicago, and the cycleskates will be made in connection with the pedals. The new skate is gotten up after new ideas. Is adjustable and can be made to fit any sized foot. It is said to be the best and highest priced roller skate on the market, retailing at $5.50 and $6.50 per pair, according to style of finish.
