Rensselaer Semi-Weekly Republican, Volume 20, Number 6, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 23 September 1898 — Senator Fairbanks on the Outlook. [ARTICLE]
Senator Fairbanks on the Outlook.
Senator Fairbanks assisted in opening the republican campaign in this State last Saturday by speaking at Princeton. He has been at Quebec as a member of the British-American commission, which has been in session there sinoe congress adjourned its sessions after a brief intermission. While at home Senator Fairbanks was asked as to the republicah chances of success this campaign. “Our party prospects in Indiana,” he said, “could not be more gratifying and satisfactory than they are at the present moment. As things appear now the result does notseem to be involved in any doubt. The republicans have the advantage in the issues. The party has an excellent organization and I believe the people can see no good can come from a change of administration. There are abundant reasons for the retention of the republican party in power, and no good reason has thus far been advanced for withdrawing from it the hearty support of the people.”
