Death of L. F. Bartoo.
LaFayette Bartoo died Wednesday evening, Sept. 21st, 1898, at his home in Remington. He had been in poor health for many months, from heart disease, but had been confined to his bed only about 7 weeks. Complications of lung and dropsical troubles resulted from his heart disease, and his last sickness was very painful. He has lived in Remington and its immediate vicinity since March 1869, but was almost as well known in Rensselaer as at his home town, having been a frequent visitor to his children here, for many years, and having, a few years ago, bought a residence here with the ultimate expectation of making it his home. He was born in Erie County, New York, Aug. 18, 1831, and his age at death was therefore 67 years, 1 month aud 4 days. He married Arabella M. Blood Feb. 22, 1853. She survives him and also five of the six children born to them. Namely Minnie A. and Don A. Bartoo, of Remington, and Mrs. G. E. Marshall, Miss Jessie L. and H. J. Bartoo, of Rensselaer. Two brothers and one sister also survive him, Ethan A. Bartoo and Mrs. Sallie Bond, of Remington, and Luce Bartoo, of Manila, N. Y. The funeral will be held Friday, at 11 a. m. at the residence.
