Rensselaer 10 —Hammond 3.
So far as the Riverside Athletic Park is concerned, base ball is over with,, for this season, and the next game played there will be foot ball. The last game of , base ball at home, for this season, was played h ere Th ursday between Ham m ond’s crack team and the Rensselaer Colts. For the latter it served as a good practice game for the game Friday at Morccco, with Sheldon. For us Beville was in the box, Narin caught and Bowen played first. Bonham was changed from third to second and Arnett who played second for Crown Point in their game here played third. Burton was at slprt, and Reynolds, Hawkins and Brinley were in the field. The boys all played good ball and though the game was cinched from the very beginning they played good hard ball. Beville’s pitching was very good and few T hits were made off him and Narin put up his usual game behind the bat and only had one passed ball. Our fielding was good, and most of our tkrowing excellent. Bonham played a good second base. Burton was good, as usual. Joe did not have many chances but showed good ability as a sprinter when he led a flock of kids after the ball Beville knocked into the river. Arnett played a good game and hit hard. Brinley and Hawkins both fielded well though Hawkins made a couple of errors on some very difficult chances. Hammond put up a loose game, were not sure in fielding and were wild in throwing. Their hitting was weak while ours was something awful. In the first Narin got a two bagger and Beville a home run over center field fence, and in the fifth Beville hit a long fly which hit the fence at Lewis’ cigar add. Besides these there were numerous base hits, sacrifice hits and other hits too numerous to mention credited to the Colts. The score by innings: Hammond. ..00100200 0— 3 Rensselaer. ..30032200 *--10
