Death of Mrs- D. O. Brooks.
Mrs. Susan Brooks, wife of D. O. Brooks, died last Friday morning, Sept. 16, 1898, at her home in the northeast part of town. The canse ot her death was supposed to be a malignant abdominal tumor. Her age was 63 years, 3 months, 29 days. She was born in Greencastle, Penn., and at the age of 11 moved with her parents to Piqua, Ohio. She was married in 1855. Her husband and seven children survive her. She formerly lived in Newton Co., and became a member of the Pilot Grove Baptist churoh in 1884. The family had resided in Rensselaer only about 6 months. The funeral was held Sunday at 8 o’clock a. m., in the First Baptist church, Elder V. O. Fritts conducting the religious services. The body was taken to Brook, Newton Co., for interment.
