Wakarusa and Iroquois Petitioners Must Pay.

Some time ago the oounty commissioners caused proceedings to be instituted to collect from the petitioners, as by law requied, the money advanced by the county in the prelimary work in the great Wakarusa and Iroquois flitch schemes, both of which altimately failed and were dismissed. At the present session of the emmissioners’ court extensively signed petitions were presented asking the commissioners to dismiss the actions for recovery of the money advanced by the county

on these ditches. The petition was preented, with able arguments and citations of law, on both sides. After full consideration the commissioners have decided to deny the prayers of the petition, and therefore, unles some higher court decides otherwise, the original petitioners for these two ditches will have to pay back to the county the money advanced upon them. This will amount, altogether, for both ditches, to about SB,OOO.
