The School Attendance.

The total attendance at the Rensselaer schools this week is 560, iu all the rooms. The first week last year it reached 568. This is the first j'ear, for many years, if we remember rightly, that there has been’a decrease in the attendance at the opening of our public schools, as compared with the year before. But the falling off is no surprise and is really much less than was expeeted. In view of the many families who moved into the country last spring and the considerable number of others who moved to other towns, especially men connected with the building trades, there was a greater net loss anticipated. That the decrease is not greater is due to the unusually large number of first year pupils at this time.
