The Teachers’ Institute.
The annual county teachers’ institute convened Monday, in the Presbyterian church. The number of teachers attending is about 135. County Superintendent Hamilton presides over the institute and all the teachers heretofore announced are present. Prof. Robert J- Aley, head of the department of mathematics at the state university, gives instruction in mathematics and general methods. Dr. S- E. Sparling, of the department of political science, of Wisconsin university gives lectures on “Elements of Citizenship.” Prof. Wm. H. Glasscock, of Bloomington, lectures on general literature and Plato. Prof. J. E. Mack, of Greenfield, is director of music. Monday evening’s lecture was by Dr. Aley on the subject of “Educational Fads.” Tuesday evening’s lecture will be by Dr. Sparling. Subject, “My Castles on the Rhine.” Wednesday evening. Prof. Glasscock “Crowning a King.” All the lectures are free. Thursday evening the County Superintendent will give a re--ception to the teachers at his office.
