Why He Stole the Turkey.
Uncle Cicero Jones, an Atlanta darky, waa recently brought before a Justice of the peaoe for stealing a turkey. The evidence showed that the turkey had roosted on Cicero’s fence and that its head and feathers were found concealed in his house the next day. In testifying in his own behalf the court asked him to explain that point “Yd’ see beah, Judge, it’s dls a way. I doan’ deny tucking de turkey, but he roosted on dat fence a long time. He wuz a trespasser an’ I Jest tuck him fur de rent of my fence.’’
