Colts Again Strike a Winning Gait.
Rensselaer 7 Crown .Point 5. The spell that has been hanging over the ball team is now broken and we look forward to a series of successful games in the future. The yellow suited Lads from Lake County were all right but they let down in the 4th inning and the colts taking advantage of their opportunity pounded out enough runs to win the game. The game was not very exciting, in fact after the fourth inning the game seemed a foregone conclusion and it was not very interesting. The colts were unable to score in any save the fourth inuing and eight goose eggs were chalked up against them. Crown Point scored in three innings the first, fourth and eighth. The game opened up with Crown Point in the field. Reynolds hit to the shortstop and made first but got caught trying to steal second. Bonham got his base on four pitched balls, but suffered at second from Fowler’s throw. Nairin struok out. For Crown Point Hauk opened the ball by a two base hit, and stole third, while Arnet bunted the ball and went out to first. R. Fowler then drove a long fly to center and Hauk scored. McCoy struck out. Score Crown Point 1. Rensselaer none. In the second inning Beville got his base on balls, but got nabbed at second by a very close decision. In his slide he knocked the bag away, but staid where it should have been. Bowen struck out and Miller went out at first on a little one to the pitcher. For Crown Point C. Fowler got to first on an error by Bonham. Love went out at first, after a pretty pick up and throw by Bonham from third base. Weod struok out and Hanlon went out on a pop up fly to Nairin. Score C. P. 1. Rens. 0. In the third inning Hawkins went out, from the short stop to first, Rhoades on a fly to Hayward and Marshall on a fly to Arnet. Hayward and Hauk both struck out, and Arnet went out on a pretty catch by Hawkins of a slow fly to center, neither side scoring. In the fourth Reynolds opened with a fly to left field who muffed. Reynolds cut first but Jack never saw it so he staid. Bonham flew out to first base; Nairin sent one away out in center, scoring, Joe stole second, and came home on Miller’s hit. Beville flew out to Hayward, Bowen got his base and Miller sent one over into right field scoring Nairin and Bowen and got to third on an over throw, Hawkins hit to oenter, Miller scored, Rhoades hit a pretty one though Hayward and Hauk and Marshall hit a nice one to second, but the first base man muffed and be was safe. Hawkins and Rhoades scoring. Reynolds got to first and Bonham made the third out with a tty to left field. R. Fowler hit to short, who fumbled and McCoy was hit by pitched ball. C. Fowler sent a hot one down toward 3rd and short and scored R. Fowler and McCoy and scored on Love’s hit to field, Wood bunted three times but failed to make them fair so he went out, Hanton struck out and Hayward went out from Nairin to Miller. Score C. P. 4. R. 5. The next three iunings the men went out in 1-2-3 order, and in the eighth Bowen died on third, while i for Crown Point*, Hauk scored, on lan error Arnent went out at first, jR. Fowler at second by a pretty j throw by Bowen from the plate, ! and McCoy flew out to left field. Neither side scored in the ninth,
