Death of W. C. D. Grannis.
Chicago. Aug. 4.—W. C. D. Grannis died Wednesday afternoon of Bright’s disease at his home, 2027 Michigan avenue. He was 72 years old, and had lived in Chicago since 1852. At the time the Atlas national bank went into liquidation during the financial trouble of 1895 Mr. Grannis was its president. He was also a director in the Dime savings bank when that concern was pushed to the wall about the same time. Since those misfortunes Mr. Grannis had not been actively engaged in businea*.
