The City Council.
Uurfew Will Ring Some Other Evening. Two arc lights were petitioned for. One at the corner of Plum and Franklin streets, to illuminate Weston Park; the other for the corner of Elm and Webster, near David Nowels’ residence. Petered to com. on lights. B. Forsythe was granted the right to construct an 8 inch sewer, from his building to the river, gping by the alley through block 4. Mr. Forsythe will construct the sewer and the city will pay SSO for benefits to streets and alleys. A petition for a curfew ordinance was presented, with 302 signatures of parents, taxpayers, or voters. On motion it was decided to grant the petition, and such an ordinance will be drawn up and passed at an early day. The resignation of E. P. Honan as fire chief was presented and accepted, and the office declared vacant. The fire company will be notified and asked to select another candidate for the place. An ordinance was introduced to prohibit people putting anything into Makemself ditch to obstruct its flowing or that would pollute its pelucid waters. Prof. J. F. Wallick presented a plan for a fine park and assembly grounds at Rensselaer. The plan will be described in a separate article. The mayor was authorized to close up a contract with the railroad company, for furnishing all the water the company needs, and ten incandescent lights for $350 a year. The contract is for 10 years. The city marshal reported a lot more side-walks as being defective.
