BATHERS DROWNED.
Three Men Perish at Gladstone, Mich., and Two Lose Their Lives Near Noperlor, Win. Gladstone, Mich., July 20.—Fred Sudderby, a locomothe engineer on the Soo line, William McCarthy, an engineer’s helper at the roundhouse and Joseph Estabaugh, ex-city marshal, were drowned while bathing. Th., bodiesofSudderby and Estabaugh were found in ten feet of water. No one witnessed the drowning, ft was known that the men went bathing and when they failed to return a search was made which resulted in the finding of their clothes on"the beach and later the recovery of two of the bodies. West Superior, Wis., July Jo.—Tuesday afternoon while bathing in Lake Superior near Oatka beach on Minnesota point. Dean Palmer and Ned Brown were drowned. The wind was strong and the surf high and the young men were engaged in riding the waves back to shore from a distance out in the lake but were overcome by the return current and carried under.
