Government Bonds in Rensselaer.
The popular subscription for U. S. bonds under the new war issue, has closed; but Rensselaer got a pretty liberal share while they were going. Three of our banks took subscriptions and the aggregate amount ordered through them was $9,300. In addition to this one bank sent out $3,000, which it w’as believed was for these bonds. It is also believed at the post-office that quite a large amount was subscribed for on blanks obtained there; but perhaps the $3,000 supposed subscription at one of the banks, was with these post-office blanks. In any case it is certainly safe to say that Rensselaer will have between $12,000 and $13,000 worth of these bonds, and possibly $15,000.
