Thomas C. Belle, city auditor of Kansas City, Mo., aged 39 years, is dead of typhoid fever after two months’ illness. 1111 am Jennings Bryan’* regiment of Nebraska infantry Monday was ordered to join Gen. Fitzhugh Lee’s corps at Jacksonville. Mr. Edwin H. Conger, envoy extraordinary and minister plenipotentiary of the United States to China, has presented his credentials to the emperor.. Prince Victor Emanuel, of Italy, accompanied by Count Carpenette, has arrived at Saratoga, N. Y., from Bar Harbor. They will remain several days before going to Newport. A Pittsburgh dispatch says: The strike of the coal miners in the third pool is practically broken, the most of the men have returned to work without obtaining the district price. The twenty-first annual convention of the Flint Glass Workers of America and Canada convened at Zanesville, 0., for an 11 days’ session. President William Smith, 'of Pittsburgh, presiding. Rear Admiral Ammen, one of the heroes of the civil war, died at the naval hospital In Washington, aged ,78. He was an Ohioan. The First New York volunteers, Col Barber commanding, will be assigned for the time being to the garrison at Honolulu. A special from Neillsville, Wis., Says: C. Leupke, a farmer, gave himself up to Sheriff £age Monday and confessed to the killing of Ed Webster with a club. Webster was a single man, and, Leupke claims, tried to induce his wife to leave him. Capt. Stephen H. Porter, a veteran Ohio newspaper man, is dead, aged 61. Fbr, more than 20 yedrs he was connected with the Columbus Evening Dispatch, having been editor in chief for a long period, and was at his desk until within two days of his death.
