4th of July at Kniman

Was a complete success all around, there was a large crowd of people all feeling good with plenty of money to spend, and those that had stands, sold all or nearly all of their goods. The oration delivered by Hon. Geo. Gregg, of Lake Co., was one of interest all the way through, and adapted to the times. Mr. Gregg is an able talker. The game of ball between Wheatfield and Demotte was a splendid, well played game, and at the end of 7th inning resulted in a tie. The purse of sls was divided between the two clubs, and dinner served them free. There were two horse races, a bicycle race, all very good. At 5 p. m., a balloon 30 ft high went up, and when about 500 feet high the discharge of fire works attached to the balloon was a grand sight. The display of fire works in the evening was all that could be asked for. In fact the whole celebration was a grand affair, as well as a financial success, just as they always are at Kniman.
